A process of dispute resolution which is gaining momentum in the world, and in recent years also in Israel, in particular in the small claims courts and in the labor courts.
The aim of the mediation process is to resolve conflict by means of negotiation and mutual agreement, listening and considering the interests of the other party, with the purpose of assisting the two parties to reach an agreement acceptable to both of them (WIN WIN).
Mediation is conducted by a mediator, a neutral professional, who assists the parties to understand one another, to see whether the conflict stems from differences in culture or interests, and to pave the way for resolving the conflict by means of understanding and agreement.
Throughout the world mediation is an educational means towards a way of life based upon mutual respect, openness and tolerance. Thus, encouraging alternative dispute resolution programs is a major challenge for every enlightened society, even more so at a time of deep crisis such as that which exists today within Israeli society.
