Director General
Dr. Guy Rotkopf was appointed to the post of Director General of the Ministry of Justice on 25.10.2009.
Dr. Rotkopf commenced his tenure at the Ministry of Justice in 2007 as head of the professional staff and senior advisor to the then Minister of Justice, Professor Daniel Friedman. He served in this role for two years.
Since 1998 Dr.Rotkopf served as a member of the permanent teaching staff of the Law school in the Academic Studies course – The College of Management. His main fields of instruction and research are in the realm of criminal law, evidence law and criminal procedure. In addition, he has taught many other courses in Israeli legal and commercial fields.
During this time he also coordinated seminars providing legal aid to underprivileged citizens, stood at the head of the students' career development institute and coordinated numerous other projects.
Dr. Rotkopf is the holder of a bachelor's degree in law with which he graduated with distinction from the law school in the Academic Studies course – The College of Management, a master's degree in law from Duke University, U.S.A and a doctorate in law from Bar-Ilan University. Dr. Rotkopf wrote his doctorate on "immunity from self incrimination and the right of silence".
During his bachelor's degree studies Dr. Rotkopf was a member of the staff and subsequently deputy editor of the periodical "HaMishpat (The Law)". He completed his internship in the law offices of Prof. Yuval Levy and Partners and he has been a member of the Israel Bar Association since 1997.
Dr. Rotkopf has published papers on various legal topics and has participated in many conferences both in Israel and abroad, including lectures at the Institute of Advanced Judicial Studies and the Israel Bar Association.
Dr. Rotkopf resides with his family in Tel Aviv-Yaffo.
