How to Donate

The decision to donate

 

The decision to donate to the State of Israel or to one of its institutions during his lifetime or after his death- is in the sole discretion of the donor himself. He alone decides whether to donate to the State, the amount and for what purpose. The donation can be made directly by the donor himself and/or a family member and/or his representative. 

Should the donor wish to obtain further information or assistance in making his donation he should feel free to either contact the Administrator General of Israel directly or communicate with one of Israel’s Diplomatic offices across the world.

 

Advantages of the donation

 

Donating has many advantages- it strengthens the bond between the donor and the State of Israel, enabling the donor to further develop the goals and areas important to him.

The donation also assists the State and its citizens to strengthen the Jewish, Zionist and social values. In addition, creating a commemoration for the donor and his family.

In many instances gift giving to Israel has tax advantages that should not to be discounted.

 

What to donate

 

It can generally be said that any article of value that can be donated during the donor's lifetime or by his will. Examples worth mentioning are:

 

1.       Monies in any currency.

2.       Deposits, debentures, bonds, stocks, dividends,   insurance policies, copyrights , patents etc.

3.       Personal property- paintings, antique furniture, precious rugs, jewelry, books, coins, stamps, and so on.

4.        Real estate of all kind and nature.

 

 

The non- money property is usually sold for its real value and the proceeds are transferred to Israel, to be managed by the Administrator General who insures that their value is maintained until designation.

 

How to donate

 

The donation can be made in any of the following ways

 

       v         Donation during the donor’s lifetime.

       v         A bequest of whole or part of the donor’s estate after his death in accordance with the donor’s testamentary disposition prepared during his lifetime.

       v         By creating a public trust for charitable purposes in Israel during his lifetime or by will.

 

 

The Bodies empowered to help with the donation inside and outside Israel

The Office of the Administrator General- The State of Israel has empowered the Administrator General of the State of Israel to coordinate the receipt of all donations to the State from foreign and Israeli citizens. 

Diplomatic representatives of the State of Israel –Donors abroad may communicate with the Consular or Diplomatic representative in their country. These offices are authorized to represent the State of Israel in receiving donations or bequests and arranging their transfer to the Administrator General in Jerusalem.

 

·         We recommend, in addition. That potential donors and testators should consult with their professional advisors when making a gift or bequest to the State of Israel.
