About Us

The Administrator General of Israel

The Administrator General, Ministry of Justice is the sole body authorized, by the Government of Israel, to represent the State of Israel in all transactions where any property is bestowed on the State of Israel by a way of gift, bequest, trust or in any other manner.


Receipt of property

The Administrator General is in charged with the receipt and administration of all

property bestowed on Israel in whatever manner and from wheresoever across the world, from the person or body authorized, by law, to transfer that property. In the case of a non-monetary gifts, such as real estate, securities, objects d'art etc., the Administrator General sees to their sale, and the transfer of the monies received to Israel.


The designation of the monies and property

The Administrator General holds the monies and property received, in trust, until their designation in accordance with the wishes of the donor or deceased as provided in his/her will. Unless otherwise specified all monies received are designated in Israel for charitable or benevolent purposes. The actual designation is made by an independent body created for this purpose, headed by a former senior judge, and known as the Public Committee for the Designation of Estate Funds.

 

 

The management of public trusts

The Administrator General manages approximately 200 public trusts, serving in most of them as principal trustee. The Administrator General sees to their registration - whether created by deed or will- according to law, the proper financial management of the trust assets, meetings of the trustees and designation of funds in accordance with the terms of the trust.

 

 

Commemoration

As requested whether by donors, testators or
their families, the Administrator General sees to the commemoration of the gift or bequest by the dedication of a plaque in honor and/or memory of the donor or the testator and/or in memory of their loved ones.
